BC's newest transport operator, providing foot passenger transportation between downtown Vancouver and Nanaimo is hiring for several Marine and IT positions.

A WorkBC client recently reported receiving a text message from someone posing as part of a WorkBC recruitment team. The sender used a poster with WorkBC details to make an appealing, yet fake, job offer.

·      Refer to the “Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre” for more information
·      If contacted by an employer, confirm the business is legitimate before proceeding with a job placement

BC gains full time jobs in healthcare. “Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey reported that B.C.’s economy is holding steady with a decrease in part-time jobs and increase in full-time jobs in June, with a total of 28,400 full-time jobs added to the economy so far this year.“
 
BCIB is the progressive employer of skilled tradespeople on infrastructure projects delivered using B.C.’s Community Benefits Agreement. Work is underway in Qualicum Beach on a new 56-unit apartment and townhome development that will provide affordable rental housing for families, seniors and individuals with low-to-moderate incomes.
 
A new affordable housing development in Parksville has opened, providing 87 new affordable rental homes for families, seniors, veterans and people living with disabilities.
 
As announced as part of Budget 2023, the Government of Canada introduced a Grocery Rebate to provide financial support to eligible Canadians. This Rebate is scheduled to be issued on July 5, 2023, alongside the next quarterly GST/HST credit payment.
 
The City of Parksville is creating an accessibility plan to identify barriers people might face when accessing the City's facilities, programs, services, or information. The plan will also include recommendations on how to remove the identified barriers. The City’s accessibility advisory committee has launched a survey to gather public input on how easy or difficult it is for people to do the things they want to do here. Click here to participate.
