The labour shortage facing the new car dealerships could be an opportunity for you. Sales, technicians, admin, finance and service advisors positions are all expected to be in demand over the next 10 years.
The $480-million action plan is highlighted by a future skills grant of up to $3,500. This grant will cover the cost of training for in-demand jobs. Beginning in September 2023, the grant will be available to British Columbians, making it easier for people to select from more than 400 eligible training opportunities at post-secondary institutions throughout B.C.

A criminal record suspension program in B.C. has its eyes set on helping the many people formerly incarcerated who struggle to find jobs, homes and reintegrate back into society.
People recovering from mental-health and addiction challenges will benefit from a new $4.9 million pilot program that integrates employment services within treatment and recovery centres. Five centres have been selected to participate, including Connective in Nanaimo (15 beds).
More people are now able to acquire new or upgraded post-secondary skills or knowledge in English, math and science to meet their career goals through Adult Basic Education and English Language Learning Pathways at public post-secondary institutions.
