MCA to take part in the Protect Michigan Commission
Michigan Community Action has representation on the newly formed bi-partisan commission, Protect Michigan. The commission was formed to educate Michiganders on the COVID-19 vaccine, and MCA Executive Director, Chong-Anna Canfora will serve as the association representative. Prohibited Telecommunications Equipment
Section 200.216 prohibits the use of grant funds to procure telecommunications and video surveillance equipment from Huawei Technologies Company, ZTE Corporation, Hytera Communications Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company, or Dahua Technology Company (or any subsidiary or affiliate of such entities). Due to the lack of information on the ban, many CAAs have reached out to CAPLAW with questions about how Section 200.216 affects them.

Discussion will take place on how Biases, Isms and Stereotypes can create a strong (negative) impact on the overall culture at the organization in our communities and for the clients served. Team Members/partners will take part in meaningful dialogue to help them to identify and remove their own biases and stereotypes.

War on Poverty Training
In celebration of the announcement on the War on Poverty in January 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, Berneitha McNair Consulting will sponsor daily training during the week of January 25 – 29, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST.
The War on Poverty Celebration Training is an innovative and impactful conversation to enhance performance and the effectiveness of community action agencies and Head Start programs to combat poverty. These five training sessions can be attended by new or experienced Head Start and community action professionals, state association staff, and state CSBG oversight agencies. Register today to join this important conversation. You can register for one or all of the training sessions.

Federal eviction/foreclosure moratoriums extended
