EO on Diversity and Inclusion Training RESCINDED
On January 20, 2021, President Biden officially revoked the previous administration's Executive Order 13950, which prohibited federal contractors from conducting workplace diversity and inclusion trainings on certain “divisive concepts”. Since most CAAs and organizations in the Community Action network are federal grantees, rather than federal contractors, the restrictions in the prior executive order did not apply. However, President Biden’s Executive Order 13985 eliminates any lingering uncertainty about Executive Order 13950, its future applicability to CAAs, and the ability of organizations to hold diversity and inclusion trainings.

CAPLAW Tax and Accounting Compliance Webinar | February 25, 2021 at 2:30 PM EST | 1:30 CT
Tax laws and accounting rules can be difficult to understand and navigate, even outside of a global pandemic. As CAAs continue to adopt remote work arrangements, the tax implications of moving employees out of the physical workplace and across state borders may not be immediately apparent. In this session, we will discuss a variety of issues pertaining to how state and federal tax laws may apply to a CAA that has implemented a remote work arrangement. We will also address the rules that finance departments may run into as they oversee the transition to a remote or hybrid workplace.

Organized Knowledge Is Power: Tips for Data Aggregation and Visualization | February 24, 2021 at 12 PM ET | 11 AM CT
Understanding challenges and monitoring or reporting the impact of solutions is often tied to the collection and analysis of data. Join the National Community Action Partnership and U.S. Digital Response in a conversation about identifying and aggregating data sources into a consolidated view or dashboard to help drive smarter decision-making. During this webinar, you'll hear about USDR's partnership with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law to create the 866-our-vote dashboard during the 2020 elections. This example shows how an organization used the skills and knowledge they gained from U.S. Digital Response on data aggregation and visualization. These skills can be replicated in your Community Action Agency to be used on issues related to your work. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of data aggregation and with clear tips, takeaways and recommendations to make the data work for you.
