BACC President's Message:
Your Messages Travel On Social Media
I recently shared a post for two reasons: it was both ridiculous and funny.
The post showed a gentleman wearing his version of a mask as he stared through the clear plastic cover of a Krispy Kreme doughnut box he had placed over his head - and apparently just finished. It was surely staged to bring about some laughs, as it would prove most ineffective. The post brought a laugh - humor is often considered the best medicine, especially in stressful times. But what happened next shows the power of social media.
After sharing, a Chamber member friend called to tell me how the post traveled from there.
He shared the post to his wife, who works in food research and development and had worked on projects with Krispy Kreme. The post wound up on the screens of the company's upper management, and the company's leadership reached out to the gentleman. It's likely he will enjoy some free donuts in his future!
There is a lot of noise on social media and I have seen many people "take a break" from the negativity and divisiveness. I often try to share posts that are humorous, inspirational, beautiful, and full of awe, as well as those that may be educational/informative for others to draw their own conclusions. What we share travels. Let's have some balance, some humor, some beauty and some awe!
Many thanks to all those who attended Saturday's Barrington Wine Walk. Many thanks to our merchants who participated in the event and in Sizzling Sale Days. Shop and support local - our local business owners need you more than ever!
