A Free Community Break-the-Fast Iftar Meal
Tuesday, March 10
at sundown
The Congregational Church of Patchogue
95 East Main Street
In this era of heightened scrutiny of religious belief, cultural identity, and belonging; the Turkish Cultural Center will offer a free Iftar dinner to all attendees at the Congregational Church of Patchogue. Everyone is invited. This event is in the month of Ramadan, which has parallels with Christian Lent and Jewish Yom Kippur. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunup to sundown. The evening meal is called Iftar. The Turkish Cultural Center will explain this season/holiday in the context of Islam. We will explore commonality with Muslims, Christians, and Jews over a fine, free Turkish Iftar meal in a magnificent and historic church. The music of Cat Stevens (who converted to Islam a few decades ago) will be performed by the church’s Chancel Singers.
RSVP Required by Feb. 25
We must have a head count to properly plan for the meal.
