Oct. 30: Ribbon-cutting for New Truckee River Trail Murals
In partnership with Placer County and Arts for the Schools, TBID funds generated by tourism supported the creation of two large-scale murals at the Truckee River Bridge in Tahoe City. The vibrant installations celebrate regional identity and were created by two female-led artist teams following an extensive public feedback process involving over 500 community members. “The Light,” by Frida Ticehurst, explores Lake Tahoe’s shifting light and local history. “A Dip Into the Truckee River Ecosystem,” by Bryn Merrell and Alex Bailey, highlights local watershed ecology. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony open to the public is scheduled for October 30 at 1 p.m. Parking will be available at the 64 Acres lot in Tahoe City, with the murals located just a short walk away.

Here’s What Measure P (on the November ballot) Means for Tahoe-Truckee Schools
The TTUSD Board of Education has voted to place Measure P on the November 3, 2026 ballot, which would renew the current $148 annual parcel tax rate and increase it by $40 to account for inflation since the last renewal in 2018, for a total of $188. Measure P would continue this funding for nine years and provide approximately $7 million annually in locally controlled school funding to support programs in science, technology, engineering and math, attract and retain highly qualified teachers, maintain career and technical education and job training programs for in-demand fields like health sciences and skilled trades, and maintain manageable class sizes.
