A Message from our President

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! With the new year in full swing there is lots to talk about, so let’s jump right in.

Last week we had an amazing presentation from the New Hampshire State Insurance and Labor Departments. They came and gave us a high-level overview of what they do and how they are here to serve us. It was great for those who made it to make some local contacts who can help when you need it. We are lucky to live and work in a state where our state employees view us as partners and want to proactively help us. One more reason to love the 603!

Speaking of the state: boy oh boy is the legislative session under way in Concord. There are more than 150 bills that concern housing that are proposed in our state just this year. The Government Affairs Committee, headed by Alexx Monastiero (our very own Southern member and Board Member – and the winner of The Builder of the Year Award at the Cornerstone Awards) is hard at work trying to cut the red tape and sort through all the proposals to make our state the best place to build in. It’s a lot of work, but the Committee never sleeps! Our wonderful new Governor, Kelly Ayotte, has made housing a top priority and we are honored to have a seat at the table to help set policy and make new laws.

Peter Dolloff and his Golf Committee have already met a few times, and they are hard at work on our Spring Golf Tournament. Lastly, a thank you to all of you, our members. Did you know that we are more than 300 members strong now and still growing? We make up 60% of the entire state membership. Your board truly enjoys serving you. We are excited to work with such wonderful individuals and businesses on all our committees and we love the dedication of our volunteers. When you love what you do, it’s not called work. It is our honor and pleasure to serve you. Thank you for your membership and dedication to our association! Together, we are doing great things for building in New Hampshire.

Our February Workshop Wrap Up

We had an amazing panel of experts at our February 5 workshop. The State of NH Departments of Labor and Insurance presented an informative program to our members on Wednesday, February 5.

The presenters included were:

NH Department of Labor: General Counsel-John Garrigan and Workers Comp Director-Wesley Gardner

We appreciate the State of New Hampshire staffers for taking timeout of their busy schedules to visit with us and provide our members with very valuable information and insights on both of these important topics.
