Dress Code Changes

For the 2018-2019 we have a slight change in our student dress code policy.  Students can no longer carry back packs into the classroom.  This was put into place this current school year to help with the transition of students' personal devices.   Since most students all ready had a back pack, that was a quick and cost-free solution. 

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own technology device (besides a phone) as we use a platform called, Canvas where instructional materials are housed and as well as submitting student work.  

The laptop/chromebook sleeve should only have enough room for the technology device.   Anything bigger than a sleeve will not be permitted into the classroom and must remain in their locker at all times.   See the picture example below of a laptop/chromebook sleeve.

Every student is encouraged to bring a personal device, other than a cell phone, for the 2018-2019 school year. Teachers will continue to utilize our online learning management system (Canvas) to provide students with a blended learning model of teaching and learning to best meet the needs of all students. 

Many resources such as math textbooks and other resources across content areas will be uploaded for students to access on Canvas via a laptop or chromebook. Students and teachers will continue to integrate and use technology to enhance learning and provide students with the skills needed to be college, career, and life ready.

  The GREAT RC Spirit Store   to go to the store's website.  The store hours are 11:00-12:30 p.m. each day if you would like to stop in.

Baccalaureate  Service

Parents: I would like to encourage you & your Senior student to plan to attend the Baccalaureate Service at First Church of Christ in Burlington on May 21, 2018 at 7:00pm in the main auditorium. 

The Baccalaureate Service is a non-denominational "farewell" service for graduating Seniors that will include music, student speeches, prayer & a brief encouraging message for the Senior Class. It's a great opportunity to take pictures of your student & their classmates in their cap & gown in a more relaxed atmosphere than graduation where there is often a rush to find them to take pictures before they must return the gown so they can leave with family & friends.

Gatton Academy
  
The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science selected a total of 99 Kentucky sophomores from 48 counties for the class of 2020.  Cooper High School is proud to have one of the 99 students selected from around the state.  

Congratulations to Lars Hebenstiel, class of 2020.

Applicants were evaluated based on ACT/SAT scores, high school grades, awards, extracurricular activities, responses to essay and short answer questions, and letters of recommendation. In addition to these criteria, 189 candidates were invited to interview with WKU faculty members, community leaders from across the Commonwealth, and Gatton Academy alumni.


The goal of The Gatton Academy is to enable Kentucky's exceptional young scientists and mathematicians to learn in an environment that offers advanced educational opportunities, preparing them for leadership roles in Kentucky. Moreover, The Gatton Academy assists in preparing Kentucky to compete in a knowledge-based economy by increasing the number of scientists and engineers who live and work in the state.
