Happy New Year! I hope our students are well rested, found some relaxation over the winter break and ready to finish our second half of the school year strong! Our first day back is Wednesday, Jan. 3. Go Jags!

Early College Parent/Student Meeting


Students who will be juniors or seniors next school year who are interested in learning more about the Early College Program should should attend an information session in the Cooper Library on Wednesday, January 3rd at 6 pm. Parents are also encouraged to attend.  

Cooper NOW!


Cooper NOW is a monthly video produced by our students. Our students work hard to produce a quality product with the supervision of business teacher, Ms. Jeri Giska.

Governors Scholar Nominees


Congratulations to the following Governor's Scholar Program nominees that will move on from our school to the state level for review and hopeful selection!

Course Requests 24-25


It is that time of year for us to begin the process of planning and preparing for our course offerings for the 2024-2025 school year. Some dates to plan for and be aware of as we return from winter break:


Tuesday, January 30th

Class meetings with students to go over course request and information on choosing courses.


Thursday, February 8th (Snow Date - February 12th)

8th grade visit Cooper HS during the school day to go over course request and planning.


Thursday, February 8th (Snow Date - February 12th)

8th grade Parent Night @ Cooper-6:30 p.m.


Monday, February 19th (No School for Students)

Parent/Teacher Scheduling Day for all parents, grades 8-11. Course Requests are finalized and turned in during the parent conference. In the coming weeks, your student's JAM teacher will be reaching out via Sign-Up Genius for you to select a time between 7:30-2:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 for a 15 minute parent in-person conference. Be sure to check your spam/junk/clutter folders. Depending on your email settings, this email generated from Sign-Up Genius could land in one of those folders.

Senior Dinner Dance


The Class of 2024 is cordially invited to attend Cupid’s Ball at Great American Ballpark for their Senior Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 3rd from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Tickets are $45 each and will be on sale during lunch following the schedule below. Students must have a behavior contract completed and submitted when tickets are purchased. Behavior contracts can be found in the library, in the front office, outside of CC1, or outside of workroom D1.

A reminder if students have 6 unexcused absences or more, they are unable to attend a school-sponsored dance.

Immunizations


Please remember to turn in an updated immunization by January 8th. State law mandates that an updated and compliant certificate be on file in order to avoid exclusion. Two Hep A’s and a second Meningitis shot on or after the student’s 16th birthday are required along with a proper expiration date. Check with your pediatrician if you have questions.

Football Coach of the Year & 1st/2nd Teams Named


Coach Borchers has been named the Enquirer Class 5A Coach of the Year. He coached the Jaguars to a 12-3 record and a 2nd state championship appearance. The Jaguars had their eighth-highest scoring average in Class 5A, putting up 34.8 points per game.


The following students have also been named to 1st team: Austin Alexander, Isaiah Johnson, Jack Lonaker, Cameron O'Hara. 2nd team: Campbell Ryker, Lucas Hughes and Keagan Maher. Honorable Mention: Mason Stanton, Malachi Ewell and Isaac Brown.
