Presentation of Mary Academy  ePathways

January 2016
PMA Friends and Family,

In this edition of ePathways you will see what PMA students and staff have been up to this past month.  Students have been busy with midterms, basketball, skiing, and rehearsing for the Spring Theater production of Just So. There are always many things going on at PMA...we hope you enjoy reading about them.

PMA Today
It's a Twin (and Triplet) Thing
Catholic education can be a difficult balancing act between value and cost.  Knowing that a Catholic education is right for a child is one thing, but making the decision to sacrifice and send your child is another, especially for parents who have more than one.   This year at PMA we have fifteen sets of siblings, plus an astonishing amount of multiples enrolled.  The freshman class alone has four sets of twins, the sophomore class has two sets of twins and the junior class has triplets!

We are grateful and recognize that each and every PMA parent makes a significant sacrifice when they choose to send their child to our school.   The commitment for those families who have two, even three children simultaneously enrolled, is a significant and difficult financial undertaking.  These parents have double, or triple the tuition costs for all four years their children are at PMA.

To all of these parents, we thank you for  making PMA a place for families.

Lab Work with Mrs. MacGregor
In Mrs. MacGregor's Biology class, s tudents took cheek swabs from an animal cell and dissected onions for plant cells.  Afterwards they were given a Mystery Cell which they determined based on their discoveries under the microscope and cell knowledge.

Tech Club
The Tech club held their annual XBox and Wii game day after school on January 13.  Over twenty students participated in this video game challenge and it is easy to see why...

Ski Trip
When midterms end you are allowed to reward yourself with a little fun 3,000 feet up in the air.  Twenty five PMA students accompanied by Mr. Klayman, Mrs. Zygmont, and Mrs. McGuinness, did just that.  Friday, January 22, this large group traveled bright and early to Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH for a fun filled day of skiing and snowboarding.

The PMA students were a great mix of our international and domesti c stu dents, ranging from expert to beginner skiers, some taking a first lesson that day.

No matter what level the students  could ski or what country they were fr om, one thing was for certain, they all had fun on this trip.  They needed a day in the snow after a long week of exams.

 Pageant Tree
Mere hours before Christmas break started, PMA held its annual Pageant Tree. Students performed songs, dances, and skits to get us all in the mood for Christmas and the upcoming break.  The faculty and staff also had a surprise for the students....

The staff had something special to share with the students as well....could this be a new PMA tradition?

Thank you for taking the time to keep up to date with our PMA news and happenings.
We hope you enjoyed this edition of ePathways.   Please watch for our next edition of ePathways.
