August 27-29 (Main Conference)
Hyatt Regency Irvine

This year's conference is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program, founded by the Los Angeles Fire Department. More than 450 CERT volunteers, instructors, coordinators, and emergency managers from across the United States will gather to learn, network, and celebrate four decades of community preparedness.
We need volunteer support to take on a few support roles at this event:
Volunteer Opportunities
· Assisting with conference registration
· Greeting attendees and providing directions throughout the hotel
· Serving as conference runners and assisting with logistics
· Supporting breakout sessions and presenters
· Welcoming guests at luncheon events and checking tickets
· Serving as a Breakout Room Volunteer
Volunteer Benefits
· Complimentary parking (validation provided)
· The opportunity to attend presentations occurring in the room where they are assigned
· Opportunity to earn a conference scholarship (see below)
Meals
• Volunteers working half-day shifts should plan to purchase lunch on their own.
• Volunteers working a full-day shift on Thursday or Friday will receive lunch as part of the conference.
Conference Scholarship
Thanks to the generous support of Cal OES, volunteers have the opportunity to earn a complimentary conference registration.
• Volunteer for one Full-Day shift at Main Conference on Thursday (August 27) or Friday (August 28) and receive a conference scholarship to attend the remainder of the conference.
For example: Volunteer on Thursday and attend Friday and Saturday as a conference participant. Or you can volunteer on Friday, and be an attendee on Thursday and Saturday.
• Volunteers who complete two Half-Day shifts on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday are also eligible.
After registering for two half-day shifts as a conference support volunteer, please email Carol Burtis at carol.burtis@surfcity-hb.org and let her know you are interested in receiving a main conference scholarship for Thursday–Saturday (August 27–29).
Whether you can volunteer for one shift or several, your support will make a tremendous difference in creating a welcoming experience for CERT members from across the country.
