The many events announced in this issue certainly show Moraga to be a vibrant, healthy town at Age 50!! Details of our 50th anniversary celebration are listed here, as well as a substantial list of many other significant anniversaries in Moraga. At the same time as we're celebrating our past, the agenda for the Joint Meeting described below is directed towards creating our future. Check this out too!

JOINT TOWN COUNCIL - PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING | |

The agenda for this joint meeting continues the focus on updating Moraga's General Plan. An important aspect of the General Plan is the Values and Guiding Principles element which will be updated as well. Tonight the staff will present a preview draft of the entire General Plan. MORAGA CELEBRATES 50 YEARS AS A TOWN | |

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
Come on out to celebrate our town's heritage and the fall harvest with a variety of activities for all ages. Here's the line up:
PARADE 10 - 11 AM
STARTS AT CORNER OF SCHOOL STREET AND COUNTRY CLUB DRIVE
- horses, marching bands, stilt walkers
- classic cars
- floats
- dancers

PEAR AND WINE FESTIVAL 11 AM - 4 PM
MORAGA COMMONS
- community booths
- 12 noon: ceremonial tree planting of a crape myrtle
- food for sale, including pear pies
- live music from the stage
- pear pie contest (but all kinds of pies are welcome in the contest)
- kids: inflatable jumpies, craft activities, and a free petting zoo
- "Pear Necessities" for sale, such as bags made from Moraga's recycled banners, hats, shirts, coffee mugs, license plate frames, pear jam, candles, and more.

Secure pulverized shredding is done at the shred truck by a local company, Diablo Paper Shredding, LLC. This annual fundraiser supports AAUW’s Tech Trek Science Camp scholarships for local middle school girls.

AARP Tax-Aide is looking for volunteers to become members of a team providing free tax preparation service in Contra Costa County.
Tax-Aide needs individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. While prior tax preparation experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement. The program provides comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure all volunteers feel confident and capable in their roles. Open this link for more information.

It’s Year 3 for this community event with 17 projects for community volunteers to participate in. These projects serve our mission to provide humanitarian aid locally and internationally to help the less fortunate/those in need, support our local schools, and beautify our Town.
This year there will be new projects including writing letters of love to Ukranian kids and families and Campolindo student involvement.
