During this Holiday Season, try these easy energy saving tips while preparing your favorite dishes:
• Use a timer.
• Turn off the oven a few minutes before your timer goes off – the oven stays hot enough to continue cooking your dish.
• Glass and ceramic baking dishes retain heat better than metal (this allows you to reduce oven temperature by 25°F)
• Use your stove whenever possible. Range-top cooking uses less energy!
• Dial down your thermostat a few degrees. With so much going on in the kitchen, the rest of the house can benefit from the extra heat.
• Use the dishwasher instead of hand washing dishes. This not only uses half the energy, but it also saves on water use.
