Word from the Pastor

I'm always glad when September comes around each year. There's a sense of new beginnings after a long summer.

RALLLY DAY is on the 7th. It's a great way to kick off the new school year and the end of summer. On that Sunday, we will host a Ministry Team Fair in the Fellowship Hall before and after worship. Team members, including Small Groups, will be stationed throughout to share what their ministry does and answer any questions. All the teams need additional volunteers, so please drop by and sign up in an area of interest for you!

I like to quote the Old Testament prophet Joel, “’Yet even now’, says the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart.’” Even though that passage is usually used as the liturgical call to observe a Holy Lent, I like to use it as a way to say that as summer comes to a close it’s going to be great seeing everyone back in the weekly fellowship of the congregation. For those of you who have been away, know that you have been missed!! But how wonderful to take a break.

As always, know that I and the Congregational Care ministry team, are truly interested in knowing if you or your family has a pastoral concern (illnesses, surgeries, death in the family, as well as joys and celebrations). Our level of support and care for one another in this community of faith is indeed one of the most meaningful aspects of our ministry together.

Blessings, Rev. Todd

Thanks to your generosity, so far we’ve collected $1,600 for last month’s 5th Sunday Offering, which will help provide uniforms for over 65 Kendall Whittier and

Sequoyah Elementary students!

CHANCEL CHOIR

The Chancel Choir of College Hill Presbyterian Church rehearses Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the second story choral room (next to the church office) for singing, fellowship and fun! If you would like to sing with the Chancel Choir this fall, we are welcoming new members. Please contact Kim Childs.

BELLISSIMO RINGERS

BELLissimo Handbell Ensemble of College Hill Presbyterian Church rehearses Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. on the third floor (Sunshine Room). If you are interested in playing in this fun ensemble (permanent member or substitute) this fall, please contact Director of Music for more information. Please contact Kim Childs.

Handbell Rehearsal Room Improvement

After much discussion and deliberation of how best to improve the cooling and heating of the 3rd floor handbell room, the Worship & Music Team, in collaboration with the Building & Grounds Team proposed purchasing a Mini-HVAC unit. The Finance & Stewardship Team made things easier by helping coordinate where the funds could come from, and at the last Session meeting the motion was made to proceed with the project with everyone supporting the project.

As you can see, the installation is complete, and our Director of Music Ministry, Dr. Kim Childs, and two long-time ringers, Kathy Davis and Terry Baxter, along with the other Bellissimo ringers are thrilled with the new unit.

We have added to our weekly bulletins

and newsletters a new

QR Code

that will take people to the Donation page of our church website. Studies show how important this method of donating has become, especially for younger generations.

The code can be used for "Pledges or General Donations" to our operating budget, or for "Special Donations" which can be designated to occasional special collections taken throughout the year.

Joy/Concern Prayer Requests

Please submit your requests for prayers of joy or concern in the bowl in the Narthex.

Prayer requests are now being shared during Sunday Worship!

Also, please reach out to Jan Swafford, Congregational Care Ministry Team Moderator, any team member, or Rev. Todd with needs and concerns.

Birthday Endowment Fund

A meaningful way to celebrate this year's Birthday, is to donate an amount equal to your age to the Endowment Fund.

This donation is also a wonderful way to honor others such as children, grandchildren and friends and allows the church to have funds available for special projects.
