Global Faces: Ramayan 101 - Friday, November 20, 7pm to 7:45pm (CT) Join us for an insightful conversation about the global aspects of Ramayan, where performing artists of diverse faiths from Mandala Arts will share their concepts and interpretations of what Ramayan means to them and will be moderated by NIAM board member Harpreet Datt. Walk in our shoes, Dance the story – Saturday, November 21, 3pm to 3:30pm (CT) A family friendly event This carefully curated tutorial, by Mandala’s performing artist Ashwaty Chennat will lead the class through a dance workshop using the medium of Bharat Natyam and storytelling associated with the characters of Ramayan.

This virtual presentation is a modern, cross-cultural interpretation of the epic Ramayana, permeating dance theater and music traditions throughout South and Southeast Asia. The mythology traces the journey of Ram, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshman exiled in the forest, at odds with the brilliant king Ravana.  This epic narrative has seen myriad interpretations throughout the centuries while making its way around the globe.
