Automated Speed Enforcement Pilot Program🚘

The City of Long Beach is set to launch its Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) System Pilot Program, authorized under California State Assembly Bill 645. Spanning five years, the program aims to reduce speeding and collision severity through the deployment of ASE devices. The City's Public Works department will install speed feedback signs and post advance notification at the locations where ASE devices are deployed.

Residents are invited to review the System Use Policy and Impact Report on the City's ASE System Website and provide feedback by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025. The Use Policy clarifies that the ASE system will enforce only speed limits and outlines data collection and access rules, as well as data protection measures. The Impact Report assesses the program's potential effects, focusing on deployment equity in disadvantaged communities and prioritizing safety data in site selection. Proposed camera locations and supporting traffic data are also included. Feedback received through the City website will be vital in shaping the program before it is presented to the City Council for approval.
