THE 2017 GTA AM TOUR SEASON TAKES FLIGHT
UXBRIDGE, ON (April 24, 2017) – The GTA AM Tour was back in full swing today with the 2017 Air Canada Season Opener, hosted by Coppinwood Golf Club. Mother Nature was on side, providing competitors with a lovely spring day as players banged off the rust, dialed in the short game and were off to a flying start.
In the Champ Flight, Stephen Wright was showing no mercy leading the pack with a steady par round of 72. Mark Rodgers did his best to narrow the gap landing second with 75 and Stewart Law was hot on his heels with 76.
A Flight would have Dean Weber shoot a smooth 78 to be crowned champ, Tour good guy Steve (Zimmy) Zimmerman would land one short shooting 79 and Max Scholz one shy finishing up with 80 on the day.
Tour Veteren Mike DiFlorio would take top spot in the B Flight, carding a super 79, second best would be Fred Snel firing 81 with just enough to slide past Sean Weber also shooting 81 and Rob Mackenzie 81 would settle a fourth place finish.
C Flight would see a familiar face with Franco Aceto capturing first place with 83, Jeff Zajac settling for second with 91 and Steve Kolenko cashing in a 92 for a third place finish.
Seniors' Flight had a first time winner in Fred Cousineau shooting a dandy 83 followed by Steve Drainfield with 85 for second. John Stollery finished first in the Seniors' Net competition with a net 76, after a tie with Todd Price who finished second.
Women's Flight's Sandra Stuckless was queen for a day, carding a net 72.
