ALL ABOARD FOR THE GOLFTEC CLASSIC AT BIGWIN ISLAND

This week, players took a short boat ride to the one and only, Bigwin Island Golf Club, for what would be the last Tour stop before the Air Canada Tour Championship. As the first groups hit the fairways the sun was shining brightly and, throughout the day and for a welcome change, the temperature continued to rise. Players would battle this beautiful track and those who could remain steadfastly focused would leap up the Myrtle Beach Order of Merit standings.
Champ Flight’s Jeremy Wilson would celebrate his first win of the season, having finished with a solid score of 73. Robert Sterling would card a strong 74, for second, and Johnathan Letterio was one stroke behind, with 75, taking home the third place prize. In the Champ Flight's season-long Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Ryan Taylor is holding onto the lead with 827.5 points. Mike Hubbs has moved into second place with 585 points , followed by Michael Corvese in third with 578.8 points.
A Flight’s Andrew Susands and Brian Shultis would finish tied with matching 75s, resulting in a one hole playoff. Brain finished one stroke better than Andrew, landing him in first place. Andrew would settle for second and some much-needed Order of Merit points. Close behind them, finishing third, was Arjun Tuteja, with a score of 76. The A-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit sees P.J. Corvese holding on to the top spot with 588.8 points. Climbing one spot, into second, with his second-place finish this week, is Andrew Susands, with 576.3. Slipping into third place is Derek Peters who has 496.9 points.
In B Flight, Kirk Figueira would have his first win ever on Tour by carding a very tidy round of 81. Tied for second would be Tour regulars, Larry Withyman and Brad Golden, both of whom posted 82. After card matching, Larry would take second and Brad third place. In the B-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Jake Naccarato jumped into the lead last week and is holding on, with 633.8 points. Frank O'Brien is in second, with 581.5. Mark Van Alstyne holds onto third place, with 442.5 points.
C Flight would see a new name on top of the leaderboard, with Tour sponsor Matt Lawrence taking the win, with a score of 80. Four strokes back, finishing second, was Alex Marton. C Flight Order of Merit leader, Rick Jones, would settle for third place this week, carding a score of 85. The C-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit continues to see Rick Jones leading the race with 834.2 points. Sitting in second, and closing the gap on Rick, is Carl Thompson who has 737.5 points. As a result of her win at Mad River last week, Sandy Zajac is in third with 598.8 points.
Robert Stodgell would have his second Seniors’ Flight win of the season, with an amazing gross score of 76. Second place would go to Dave Beatty, with 82. The Seniors’ net competition would be won by David Johnson, taking his tenth win of the season with a net 68. Ian Smith would finish in second place with a net score of 71. The Myrtle Beach Order of Merit sees Todd Stones, holding onto the top spot with 997.5 points and close behind, David Johnson with 915 points.
The Women’s Flight would see a tie this week, between Tammy Klein and Deborah Grieve, both finishing with matching net scores of 86. Card matching would result in Tammy taking home the hardware. The Women’s Order of Merit race is led by Deborah Grieve, with 875 points. Sandra Stuckless remains in second, with 637.5 points.
