PLAYERS DOMINATE AT THE CELLWORKS CLASSIC
BRAMPTON, ON (July 4, 2016) – Following an early summer break in the GTA AM Tour schedule, action resumed this week as players were hosted at Brampton Golf Club. Blue skies and a brilliant sun set the stage for this week’s Cellworks Classic. Players thoroughly enjoyed playing this wonderful 1963 Robbie Robinson designed course. Brampton Golf Club boasts consistently outstanding conditioning, a serene setting and an excellent test of golf.
With six sets of tee blocks, this par 71 ranges in length from 6558 to 4907 yards, offering inclusive playability to golfers of all ages, abilities, and ambitions. Brampton GC has played host to several prestigious amateur and professional tournaments in its history, most recently hosting the 2014 Ontario Women's Amateur Championship.
This week Champ Flight would see first time winner, Eric Velanoff claim victory shooting a one over 72, Ryan Taylor and Cam Brennan would both shoot 73 and, after card matching Ryan would land a second place finish and Cam would secure third. A Flight had two players battling it out for the win, Dean Weber and John Farrugia (Brampton Member) came into the clubhouse tied after shooting matching and sensational 76's. The winner would be decided by a one hole playoff. Dean Weber clinched the victory with a par. B Flight’s Jake Naccarato would glide into the winners seat by firing a tidy 78, leaving Jeff Price to claim second by shooting an 81. Nitesh Mistry would be crowned champion of the C Flight carding an excellent score of 85 with Jason Welsh only one stroke back securing a second place finish with an 86. Senior B was won by John Stollery who shot an 84.
