OSHAWA HOSTS THE GOLF AWAY TOURS OPEN
OSHAWA, ON
(August 28, 2017)
– As The Tour season winds down its summer schedule and shifts into fall, Oshawa Golf & Curling Club played host to the
Golf Away Tours
Open. The course is best described as a good test. With its mature trees, well manicured, undulating fairways and small greens, Oshawa presented a challenge for all Flights.
Champ Flight's Mike Forbes would come out on top, carding 76 for the win. Ryan Taylor and Will Darling were fighting for second, with Ryan scoring 78 and Will close behind with a 79.
In the A Flight, Tom Collins would take first place in his first Tour event of the season with a score of 81. Taking second place, one stroke behind, would be PJ Corvese. Third place goes to Norm Forshner, with an 83 and his first top three finish of the season.
B Flight would see a battle for first place between two Tour regulars, Brad Golden and Jake Naccarato. Both players carded 82, taking them back out to the first hole for a playoff. After playing two holes, Brad would emerge as the winner, having won this same event on Tour, back in 2015. Jake would take second place while Franco Aceto placed third, posting a score of 83.
The Seniors' Flight would see Ian Murray finish at the top with a 79. Three strokes back would be second place winner, Jack Radford. Seniors' Net would have two tied for first and, after card matching, Robert Stodgell would take first place and Tom Lumsden would settle for second, both carding a Net 72.
The C Flight would have the tightest leader board ever seen on Tour! Joseph Warren, Richard Headley, Rick Jones and Sharad Kerur would all top the board with scores of 96. The four would head out to the first hole for a four-way playoff. Joseph and Sharad tied the hole, but, with daylight coming to an end, and a winner needing to be declared, the playoff would end in a chip off. Joseph Warren took first place after winning the chip off. After card matching, Richard Headley would take home second and Rick Jones would take third.
The Women's Flight would be led this week by Deborah Grieve, with a fantastic net score of 69!
