As the 2017 Tour schedule heads towards the Air Canada Tour Championship, the race to the top of the Myrtle Beach Order of Merit standing is heating up. The Tour would make a mid-week stop at the ever popular Osprey Valley. This week's event was hosted by Mill Street Brewery
and was the perfect opportunity for some epic season-long battles to continue during this perfect day on the links.
As the day got under way, the Championship Flight would have a repeat winner from last year, Cam Brennan, firing 75/74 (149) for the win. Joel Giornofelice would come close, carding 75/77 (152) for a second place finish and Graham McCulloch would close out the third spot shooting 74/79 (153).
A Flight had a back and forth battle brewing and it would be Hal Kirby posting 71/78 (149) to take the cake. P.J. Corvese would record steady rounds of 76/74 (150) to secure second spot. Third place would go to Mike Reynolds scoring 75/79 (154).
Adil Mughal of B Flight would not be phased by the pressure as he slid into a first place with 78/79 (157). Not to be left behind was Larry Foschia, one shot back posting 82/76 (158). Magnus Staaf would land in third with 80/82 (162).
C Flight veteran Carl Thompson was crowned Major champ for the day, posting 93/86 (179). Dave Marcotte would be next best, five back, shooting 90/94 (184). Huntsville native, Jay White, would score third place recording scores of 88/96 (184).
When all was said and done it would be Des Brady posting a lights out 74/77 (151) for the Seniors' Flight Major title. Todd Stones shot rounds of 78/81 (159) to earn a second place finish. Tim Seabrook would take the win for Seniors' Net, scoring Net 70/68 (138) with Mike Pepe in second after a Net 68/72 (140) round.
Women's Flight had a neck and neck battle to the finish, but Sook Sagong would hang in for the win recording Net 69/70 (139).
