A Message from the GMAR
REALTORS® Support Peaceful Protests Against Racial Injustice
Members of the Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® were shocked and outraged by the senseless death of George Floyd. We applaud those who are engaging in peaceful marches for equality, fairness, and justice in our society.

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics demand fairness, integrity, and honor. As champions of fair housing, equality and inclusion are among our most cherished values. We will continue to educate our members about the importance of upholding these ideals, and advocate for them at the local, state, and national government levels.

Unfortunately, we are also witnessing a very few who see George Floyd’s death as an opportunity to loot and destroy property.
We believe REALTORS® are part of the solution going forward, just as we were in the past. Members can be proud that your national, state, and local associations have advocated for fair housing legislation at every level of government. On April 11 th , 2018, the GMAR celebrated the 50 th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act’s passage.

But, celebrating the passage of laws is not nearly enough. The fairness, integrity and honor embodied in the Code of Ethics needs to be applied every day, by every REALTOR®, every time you answer the phone, meet with a client, or send an email. We’ve all heard the phrase, “It’s what you do when no one is watching that counts.” That has never been truer than it is today.

T here are GMAR members in every neighborhood in Greater Milwaukee. As leaders in your communities we welcome your input in how we can continue to promote equality, inclusion, and acceptance . We also invite you to j oin the GMAR’s Equal Opportunity Committee to help promote the Code of Ethics, and fairness, integrity, and honor .

Sincerely,
