Welcome to our City Newsletter!
Greetings!

In case you haven’t heard yet, City Manager Patrick H. West announced his departure from the City to pursue new endeavors. He served as City Manager for more than a decade where he led tremendous advancements in development, public health & safety, and livability. The City feels extremely grateful for his extraordinary leadership and truly wishes him the best. We're going to miss you, Pat!

Starting September 21, Assistant City Manager Tom Modica will become Acting City Manager per a decision by City Council in closed session on August 20th. Council also decided to conduct a national search for the next City Manager.

We also want to take the time to thank the Long Beach Police Department for their commitment to ensure our community is safe. We remind everybody, as LBPD always does, if you ‘See Something Say Something.’ An article below demonstrates why this is so important.

Summer is sadly coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the fun is ending. There’s still plenty to look forward to like a City of Long Beach Dodgers Night and the grand opening of our new Billie Jean King Main Library! Our Long Beach Parks are also offering FREE after school recreation programs throughout the city as our youth get ready to go back to school.
