Earlier this week, the City of Long Beach conducted its annual Building a Better Long Beach presentation at The Beverly O’Neill Theater in Downtown, highlighting major development and construction activity throughout the city. Presented by Mayor Garcia, in partnership with the Long Beach Business Journal with support from the Development Services Department, the event featured dozens of commercial and residential projects recently completed, currently underway or proposed throughout the city.

Watch the presentation here.

Highlights include:

  • $475 million in construction activity expected throughout the city by the end of the year
  • Nearly 4,000 residential units have been recently completed, are under construction or approved
  • Current average unemployment rate of 4.6% – even lower than pre-pandemic levels
