Long Beach Shoreline Marina Details will be coming soon
Greetings Mariners,

On behalf of the Crew at Long Beach Marinas welcome to our first digital bi-monthly Marina Reader! This newly launched digital newsletter is designed to share information regarding the marinas, events, crew members, and any information that may be pertinent to you, our boat owners. The redesign will make it easier for us to provide you with web links for a more detailed and interactive experience.

We are introducing a new feature entitled, On the Radar . Here you will find information regarding maintenance improvements, changes to marina policy, updates regarding MarinaGo, and information regarding health and safety, as provided by our partners Marine Patrol and Marine Safety. The Reader’s two historically popular features, the Upcoming Events section and the Monthly Tide Chart, bookend our revised format.

Upcoming Events is easily accessible beneath the header. When possible, we will include an electronic link to the event title, which will take you to the event webpage. Following the header are our feature articles. Rounding out the newsletter is the tide chart banner. Click on the banner to access the charts. We hope you enjoy our maiden voyage, of the Marina Reader, the March/April issue.

The Crew at Long Beach Marinas would like to invite you to the 2020 Boat Owner Appreciation Breakfast. Let this be the start of an annual event that celebrates our good fortune and gives us the opportunity to spend time together prior to the official start of summer! This year the event will be held at Shoreline Marina. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25, 2020. Come by between 10:30 a.m. and noon to say hello to staff, meet your neighbors, enjoy some chicken and waffles, and possibly go home with a door prize.

As the Marina Manager, I will always listen to your needs and suggestions. Our goal is to provide the highest level of customer service possible. I look forward to your feedback on matters that are important to you.

Until next time,
Elvira Hallinan
Your Long Beach Marinas Manager

As seen in the photo, placing the cart under the gangway may cause damage.

Dock carts are rated for a capacity up to 300 pounds however, please note that sun exposure and the marine environment, can weaken the plastic wheels and diminish weight capacity .

Dion & Sons our new operator for Alamitos Bay and Shoreline Fuel Docks pledges to make them first class fueling and service facilities.

On February 1, Dion & Sons assumed operation of the City’s marina fuel docks. The company has ambitious plans for enhancing the facilities to the delight of the Long Beach boating community. Dion & Sons ( www.amberresources.com ) is one of Southern California’s largest petroleum distributors. Headquartered in Long Beach, the company has a history in the City dating back to the 1930’s and is currently one of Long Beach’s largest employers.

Dion & Sons plans to elevate both the Alamitos Bay and Shoreline facilities are comprehensive. Site improvements have already begun at Alamitos Bay and equipment upgrades will be completed concurrently at both locations. Alamitos Bay will continue to undergo renovations to the five structures on site improving the appearance and functionality. Fuel prices will be managed aggressively to ensure competitiveness.

Most importantly, Dion & Sons is focused on expanding services offered at the fuel docks and elevating the customer experience. These improvements are aligned with its corporate philosophy of MAGIC…Making A Great Impression on Customers. On-the-water maintenance, fluid and filter changes, tank cleaning, and all services previously offered will continue with expanded staff allowing for additional days of service. Food, snacks, and beverage offerings including beer and wine will be expanded. Boating supplies will be added to the list of items at both sites. Propane at Alamitos Bay and CNG bottles at both locations will be re-introduced. Ice vending will be upgraded to ensure every boat is able to keep food and drinks cold, and the catch of the day will be fresh on your return.

All improvements to facilities and services will be completed before the busy boating season arrives in Long Beach. Both locations will continue to operate during normal business hours while improvements are underway.

You are welcome to stop by the docks to see the improvements and experience a new level of service to our community. Comments and suggestions from our boating community are encouraged. Dion & Sons will work closely with all boaters, recreational and commercial alike, to continually improve the fuel dock experience.

Located in Alamitos Bay,   Little Ships Fleet Yacht Club (LSFYC) is proud to announce that their club will hold its third annual CLEAN THE BAY DAY on March 29, 2020, where  LSFYC   members will clean the waterways of Alamitos Bay  Marina . Members will use their dinghies to pick up trash from the marina fairways.  Other  club members, will walk the dock along the sea wall collecting trash where the dinghies can’t reach. Last year within 2 ½ hours 150 pounds of debris was collected, comprised of plastic bags, bottles, toys, styrofoam and much more. The club is excited to do something positive for the Alamitos Bay boating community as well as the environment.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Little Ships Fleet Yacht Club, it was founded as a nonprofit organization in 1937. Six people founded the yacht club in order to give non-class boat owners an avenue to participate in regattas. They created Performance Handicap Racing Fleet system (PHRF). This system is still in use world wide today.

Little Ships Fleet Yacht Club’s primary focus is to ensure that members have the opportunity to improve their sailing skills and knowledge  through racing and member camaraderie, while experiencing the fun and joy of yachting. LSFYC does not maintain a full-service onshore facility for its members, choosing instead to conduct membership meetings and social events at various yacht clubs throughout the Long Beach area. The club offers a low-cost alternative yacht club experience. Their initial membership application fee is $100, with an annual membership fee of $125.

Members of the yacht club have participated in major sailing events, such as Newport to Ensenada and the Transpac. Little Ships’ is a member of the Southern California Yachting Association. For more information please visit: www.lsfyc.org
