Upcoming Events
Long Beach Hosts Second Annual Celebration of The Young Child
The City of Long Beach will host its second annual Celebration of the Young Child, a resource fair especially for families with children up to age six, on Saturday, April 27. This free, one-day event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), 1250 Bellflower Blvd.

Celebration of the Young Child is part of the City’s Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP). In October 2018, the City Council reviewed a presentation and voted unanimously to receive and file the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Strategic Plan. The Plan was created by the City in partnership with the Mayor’s Fund for Education and the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Committee to ensure that all families and young children across the City have equitable access to programs and support. According to recent Census data, more than 34,000 children under the age of six live in Long Beach, and Celebration of the Young Child is just one way the City is working to reach children and their families across the city.

Life Beyond Prison
Representatives from the CSULB Rising Scholars Justice Lab and California Innocence Project are featured in this poignant conversation around the experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals.

The event will also include appearances by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and Arts in Corrections program, as well as performances by soprano Victoria Lawal, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Patterson, bass-baritone Derrell Acon, and pianist Neda St. Clair.

The event is FREE, but an RSVP is recommended. There will be a reception to follow.

A Message from Edison
Please note the following construction activities will be happening in the district…

Edison will soon be performing maintenance on the electrical system in the area. In order to perform this work safely, we must temporarily turn off power. This outage will allow us to modernize our grid by making needed upgrades and repairs to increase our reliability. We realize that power outages may cause some inconvenience, therefore we try to isolate outages down to the smallest area possible and complete the work safely and as quickly as we can. We appreciate your understanding as we work to increase system reliability for the future.
