The Ögyen Dzambhala revealed by His Holiness Kusum Lingpa is not merely a worldly wealth practice, rather it emerged from the expanse of primordial awareness as a mind treasure (gong ter). It carries the profound blessing of Guru Rinpoche’s enlightened activity, embodying not only material enrichment, but also the spontaneous accomplishment of spiritual prosperity.
A semi-wrathful manifestation of Guru Rinpoche himself, Ögyen Dzambhala offers practitioners a swift and effective means to magnetize the causes and conditions to generate abundance and virtue, when practiced with devotion and the aspiration to benefit others.
Through the continuity of this annual retreat, the blessings of this extraordinary practice remain accessible and alive for sincere practitioners in the West.
It is worth remembering that, through the enlightened intent of His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, His Holiness Örgyen Kusum Lingpa (Treasure Revealer of the Three Kayas) made a significant journey from his remote monastery in Golok, Tibet, to the United States in 1994. During this historic visit, His Holiness was accompanied by Lama Chödak Gyatso Nubpa Rinpoche, who escorted him from Asia to the United States and continued to support him throughout his inaugural tour of the USA.
During their remarkable time together, Lama Chödak Gyatso tirelessly supplicated His Holiness Örgyen Kusum Lingpa to reveal the Terma (hidden treasure) of Ögyen Dzambhala for the benefit of the current generation.
Moved by Lama Gyatso’s persistent and compassionate request, and with the perfect convergence of causes and conditions, His Holiness Kusum Lingpa revealed the Ögyen Dzambhala treasure in America. His primary intention was to provide Western students with a profound and skillful means to enrich their spiritual path during this age of decline and to foster the interdependent conditions for dharma to flourish in the West.
His Holiness entrusted the custodial responsibility for this terma practice to Lama Chödak Gyatso Nubpa Rinpoche. Under Lama Gyatso's guidance, the Ögyen Dzambhala practice was translated into English and upheld daily, culminating in annual retreats at Thöndup Ling in Los Angeles until Lama Gyatso’s parinirvana in 2009.
Since then, Ari Bhöd has faithfully continued this annual retreat under Lama Gyatso’s auspices. We have carried forward the full spectrum of auspicious conditions and the elaborate ceremonial traditions Lama Gyatso established as custodian of this sacred practice.
It is not only our purpose but our privilege to uphold this annual retreat commitment once again in 2026.
As always, we are profoundly grateful for the continued support and participation of our community, which makes this annual enrichment retreat possible. In particular, we rejoice in the generosity and unwavering presence of the Venerable Gelong Kalsang Rinpoche, who never forsakes us—despite his demanding schedule and countless obligations to his many students and centers throughout Asia.
In this time of great spiritual and moral bankruptcy, may we aspire and dedicate our shared merit—together, in one voice—to ensuring that this annual Ögyen Dzambhala retreat be of immeasurable,
transformative benefit to all beings. Samaya!
