Late October 2021 Newsletter
This time we were late producing the newsletter. Our sincere apologies for this. This month we welcome our new President Dr Michael Ciszek, offer an overview of our Annual Meeting, welcome two new chapters, share some of our members’ activities during World Sight Day, and highlight a learning opportunity organized by the World Council of Optometry featuring many VOSHers.  Share this with members of your chapter and those interested in global optometry.
President's Insights

At our recent annual meeting Dr Michael Ciszek was inaugurated as VOSH President for the next two years. In his first President’s insights he outlines his impressions of VOSH’s resilience and transformation and shares his guiding ideas about his presidency. Read the whole article here.
Our first hybrid Annual Meeting was a success
This year our annual meeting was a hybrid event with some attendees enjoying the premises of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and the rest joining online. The meeting was successful with over 467 registered participants representing 25 different countries across Latin American and the Caribbean, North America, Africa and Asia. We were delighted to welcome participants from our new chapters in Bolivia and Nigeria. We are very glad to report that each session had an average of at least 95 attendees. Thanks to National Vision Inc. Visionary Sponsor of our event. Read the whole report here.

Interesting publication

The Journal of the American Academy of Optometry, Optometry and Vision Science (OVS) features an article of the work carried out by the Optometry Program of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa between 2017 and 2019 among high school students in this Mexican state.

Congratulations to Emiliano, Rosalia and their team. We are proud of this SVOSH chapter. You can download the article here.
