Who helps when a Veteran has nowhere to go?

Gerald's Story, Part One:

“We were happy. She was my life partner."

Gerald lived with his wife in Montgomery County. He is a retired Air Force Veteran who had served for his whole career. Upon his discharge, he was left to manage both PTSD and mobility issues in his legs. Like all other life challenges they faced, Gerald and his wife found ways to work together to minimize the impact so they could manage life tasks successfully.

A few years ago, Gerald's wife passed away. With no children to turn to for assistance, Gerald found himself grappling with the weight of grief compounded by his existing ailments. This profound loss, coupled with the absence of his wife's support, made even the daily tasks incredibly difficult. In addition, Gerald’s fixed income made it impossible to afford where they had lived. After months of trying to make it work, he lost his home.

“When my wife passed away, nothing worked anymore.”
