"Carbon is a building block of life. Our issue should not be with carbon itself, but with how we manage it."

-Jaeson Cardiff, CleanO2 Co-Founder

CleanO2 is a clean tech company and champion of the circular economy. Their CarbinXTM technology captures the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and converts it into a valuable ingredient used in consumer and commercial products. These products empower consumers to take direct action in the fight against climate change.

What are the products that CleanO2 currently makes?

We make personal care items including body bars, shampoo, conditioner, shave bars, stain sticks, hand scrubs, liquid hand soap, and body wash.

We also make other cleaning products: tire cleaner, dish soap, laundry detergent, and general purpose cleaners and detergents.

All of CleanO2's personal care items are made with captured CO2 from our own carbon capture units (called CarbinX), which are installed in various locations to capture CO2 emissions.

In addition to making products out of captured CO2, are there other ways in which CleanO2 focuses on sustainability?

CleanO2 is dedicated to sustainability, utilizing eco-friendly packaging and promoting energy efficiency in their operations.

We also sell our CarbinX units to businesses and organizations looking to reduce their carbon footprint. These units are used to capture CO2 emissions and convert them into useful products. A single one of our CarbinX units can reduce CO2 equivalent to that of 300 trees.

What feedback, if any, have you gotten from customers and/or the media?

Our personal care products have won several awards, from Healing Lifestyles’ a Best Shave Bar  to C&T Allēs’ Most Significant ‘Feel Good’ Beauty Formula–Indie to Avenue Magazine’s Best in Alberta - Beauty Category

The Life of an Earth Muffin blogger stated that “...this is one of my favorite soaps I’ve tried recently. While I love buying local, handmade soap, I’m typically disappointed by the lack of lather. I will definitely be using this soap for a long time.”

CarbinX has also received a lot of positive feedback. For instance, New Jersey Natural Gas installed two CarbinX units at their headquarters and highlighted the system’s ability to capture carbon emissions while also providing energy savings. The technology integrates seamlessly into heating systems to reduce emissions without disrupting existing operations.

Other building owners have expressed appreciation for the added value of heat recovery and sustainability benefits.

Do you have a favorite quote or story about one of your products?

There is one, but it's a bit lengthy. Let's just say that in the very early days, we discovered that producing hydrogen near an open flame from a furnace is a bad idea.

What, if anything, do you think that the average person gets wrong about carbon capture & utilization technology/field?

The versatility of carbon is often misunderstood due to the negative press associated with carbon dioxide and climate change. Carbon is a building block of life. Our issue should not be with carbon itself, but with how we manage it.
