Chamber Encouraged by City Initiative on Public Engagement
(Medicine Hat) 
The Chamber of Commerce is encouraged with the latest City of Medicine Hat initiative on public engagement with the launch of their public participation survey.  Input from the survey will be used in the development of a public participation policy, which will guide the City when seeking the community's participation or engagement in municipal governance and operational matters. The policy is now a requirement under the Municipal Government Act. This survey will be available online until April 11, 2018. Read More
 
Request for Quote Available with the Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce is looking to complete recent renovations to our main floor with the addition of semi-transparent solar/ roller blinds and/or tint. The main floor consists of six offices each of which containing two windows 3.4' x 4.75' and one small window above the front door 4.8' x 2.10'.  Quotes should include window tint and roller blinds; as well as recommendations on the preferred option and why. The $35-million Industrial Efficiency Challenge supports Alberta's energy-intensive and trade-exposed industries, offering large industrial emitters the opportunity to improve cost competitiveness and reduce emissions. Funding for the challenge is provided by the Alberta government through Emissions Reduction Alberta, an organization that accelerates the development of innovative, emissions-reducing technologies in the province. Projects will be selected through a competitive process based on direct achievements made toward greenhouse gas emission reductions in Alberta. Read More

The Tourism Growth Innovation Fund (TGIF) will provide $1 million to support economic growth in the tourism industry with a focus on winter and shoulder-season tourism development, rural projects and Indigenous cultural experiences. The fund offers matching grants up to $75,000. Funding priority will go to projects that help grow tourism in communities beyond the province's two major cities and mountain parks. The grant program focuses on strengthening collaboration amount tourism stakeholders and will accept applications in two separate streams: destination development support and product development support.  Read More
 
 
The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) has opened the competition for the second and third rounds of the Renewable Electricity Program. Three successful bids from the first round of competition were announced Dec 13, 2017 which included a project by Capital Power to build a 201-megawatt wind farm 60km southwest of Medicine Hat.  Read More

The City of Medicine Hat Distribution Department would like to advise residents and business owners that work will be done to upgrade electrical systems in the downtown core from April to October 2018. Alleyways from 1st Street to 5th Street and South Railway to 4th Avenue SE will be affected. The City has indicated that customers will not experience any power outages through the project. The upgrade of this system is part of the City's Downtown Electrical upgrade project which began in June 2015.  Read More
