Dear Lycée Community,
I am taking the opportunity of this space on Être to thank Chana Benenson for having expertly served as the Johnson Campus Principal while expecting twins and dealing with the challenges of such a complicated school year. Her strength and resilience have been exemplary. Chana begins her maternity leave today and will return early May. Please join me in wishing Chana all the best. We can’t wait to meet the babies!
During the last few months, we have entertained a search for the next leader of the Johnson Campus, in anticipation of Chana’s leave as well as her transitioning to High School leadership next year. Our search turned out to be an international affair with well-qualified individuals.
I am pleased to let you know that we identified and offered a position to a candidate who has ten year's experience in leading a French immersion school. The candidate accepted the position and the projected first day at Lycée is March 15. I will provide specific information when our new principal has had the opportunity to communicate her plans to the school community and stakeholders she is leaving behind. We are very excited about this hire because the new principal has a lot of experience in her role, speaks French, has knowledge in bilingual pedagogy, and is very interested and active regarding issues of social justice.
A great fit for our school and community!

More information to come in the next edition of Etre.

3rd - 5th Grade
Now that we have shifted back to virtual learning, here is a reminder about Lexia! Elementary teachers assign Lexia assignments on a weekly basis, it is an independent and research-based program that students should use regularly to boost their reading skills.
Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?
As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.
Lexia is proven to close the literacy gap when used with commitment and fidelity! If you are having trouble setting up or logging into your account, please let Ms. Annie Neahring know.
Attention 10th Graders: There are extra class of 2023 spirit shirts available in the front office for $15 if you didn't get one last year or you would like to purchase more. Please bring exact cash, check or money order to Ms. Sarah. Show your high school spirit!
