SPECIAL ANOUNCEMENTS
 Dear Lycée Families,

I’d like to offer a couple of important updates today:

Trimester 3 survey: on this issue of Etre à la Page, you will find a link to a survey to be completed by all families, for each student, indicating the choice of instructional model, virtual or in-person, for the remainder of the school year. The survey offers deadlines and other relevant information. Please complete it as soon as possible and by the deadline in order for our leaders to begin the challenging process of setting up classes with the least amount of changes.

Return to in-person school: as mentioned in past communications, NOLA Public Schools in conjunction with the Children’s Hospital and the Louisiana Department of Health, will re-assess the possibility of a return to in-person learning on January 21st. Latoya Cantrell, our city’s mayor, has declared Phase 1 until January 29th. This will very likely mean that we will be in virtual mode until at least January 29th. Should anything change, we will communicate promptly, however, for the time being, families should plan to be virtual until then.

Staff vaccinations: vaccinations have begun for some of our staff members, Nurses, counselors, and professionals who typically work one-on-one with students who have received their first shot. There is not a firm deadline for teachers and the remaining staff, however, it appears we should be receiving the first dose by the end of February.

We continue to send wishes of strength and health to all of you.

Marina

Virtual Enrichment Resources
At home enrichment resources for the week of January 18 - 22.

Return to Virtual Learning Information
  • School Day: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • Lunch: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

  • The weekly schedule remains nearly the same as it has been:
  • Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday = core instruction
  • Wednesday = asynchronous lessons (STEM,SEL, Freckle, Lexia, French)

  • Teachers will send specific links and instructions for virtual learning
  • It is still very important for students to attend virtual classes every day and complete their school work. Please contact teachers, admin, and support staff if your child is having trouble meeting this expectation so that we can best support your family at this time.
Lexia Reminder
Now that we have shifted back to virtual learning, here is a reminder about Lexia! Elementary teachers assign Lexia assignments on a weekly basis, it is an independent and research-based program that students should use regularly to boost their reading skills.

Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?

As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.

Lexia is proven to close the literacy gap when used with commitment and fidelity! If you are having trouble setting up or logging into your account, please let Ms. Annie Neahring know.
