Dear Lycée Community,
First of all, a wish for a happy and safe new year! This first message of the new year on Etre à la Page was originally meant to reflect on the challenges of 2020 and to project ourselves on the hope and the promise offered by the coming of 2021. Yesterday proved to us that we are still not out of the woods, that disruption to school life is still a reality, and that we still have some work to do, individually and collectively, in order to enter the final phases of the pandemic.
We know that the impact of the coronavirus is felt in different ways by our families: for some, it has been a mere disruption, for others a devastating ordeal of loss. In this challenging environment, one thing that you can count on is our commitment to each student, and our unwavering efforts to promote their continued growth and potential. Today, while reflecting on her child’s experience this school year at Lycée, one parent beautifully stated: “When my daughter looks back at 2020-2021, she will remember this indelibly bright part of a dark time in history”. Finding joy and fulfillment in school life is our hope for all students. Our staff and teachers, this year’s heroes, will continue to deploy their superpowers and deliver the best instruction, care, and opportunities.
A few notes: Information on virtual instruction is sent out by teachers and more information is found below, in this newsletter. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or to any staff members, as needed, for assistance. A link to campus-specific staff contact list is provided in this newsletter.
We will be in virtual mode until January 21st. We will continue to monitor data in conjunction with NOLA Public Schools, adapt our decisions to the needs of our community, and promptly communicate next steps.
As one of our parents wrote today, stay positive and test negative!
With appreciation from all of us at Lycée,
