SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Lycée Families,

Thank you for all the love and support shown to our faculty and staff during the holiday season. It was a very 'sweet' send off and we are getting back with renewed energy. Students are fully engaged in learning, TOC experiences are in full swing, and plans for our overall growth are ongoing.

We'd like to bring to your attention one important update in our process for requesting changes to personal information. This new process goes into effect immediately. For reasons of student safety and security , parents and guardians will be able to update personal information (address, emergency contacts and authorized pick-ups) via the following FORM . Please print, fill and bring completed, signed form to the campus specific front office manager. While this process is not ideal, it is one that guarantees our students safety. We have already reached out to our parent portal provider to add the ability to do this electronically by the beginning of next school year.

Another quick note on security: while it is a courtesy to hold the front door to school visitors, our front office staff is asking that you do not offer this courtesy, so they can better vet all those who enter our building.

Thank you for your assistance and understanding.

A Message from our Johnson Principal
Chères Familles du Lycée, Johnson Campus,

Bonne Année and Happy New Year - May 2019 bring us all joy and goodness! I write to you now, halfway through the school year, to thank you for the warm welcome to the Lycée community. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many of you over the past several months and look forward to becoming further embedded in the LNFO world in the months and years to come.

Each day I take great joy in seeing the eager 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders headed to the TOC sites across the city, where students engage in profound hands-on experiences in STEM and local history fields of study. Over the next few weeks I will get the opportunity to visit each TOC, to see for myself what fun learning is being had at the zoo, aquarium, and French Quarter.

This month will be a busy time for the middle school students with many events in addition to the day to day lessons and homework. Over the MLK Jr. weekend the Athletics Dept. is hosting a dance for any middle schoolers and January 22 we will have the term 1 honor roll. On January 23rd the 6th graders will celebrate their success on the DELF exam from last year. At the end of this month the middle school student council is also hosting a spirit week for the whole school, with a fun dress down theme each day. Please look for particular details for these events in Etre and/or individual messages from the school.

We are also progressing in our work towards opening the high school, with each update from One App including more students who are applying to join the 9th grade next year. We've met with representatives from the French Ministry of Education who are very supportive and enthusiastic about our plans and over the next month we expect to gain further information pertinent to this exciting next step for Lycée's future.

Thank you again for your support in all of our endeavors.

À bientôt!
Chana
La Boum - For 5th, 6th 7th, 8th Graders
Lycée Français' Athletics Dept. will be hosting a Winter Dance dance for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 5:30-7:30pm. All proceeds will go to support Lycée's Athletics Program, and this event cannot be a success without the help and support of our students and families.

Tell your tweens and teens to bring their BEST DANCE MOVES! This year, we have prizes that include giftcards for: XBOX, Playstation Store, Sephora and H&M.

DELF- Save the Date
On Wednesday, January 23rd at 5:30 pm, LFNO will host the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) Ceremony for current Lycée 6th graders, their families, and some Audubon students and families as well. Detailed information has been emailed to 6th grade families.
Progress Reports/ Unified Classroom
Please remember that there are no longer progress reports printed and sent home with students at the midway point of each term. Rather, parents have access to student grades and assignments via the Unified Classroom platform. Thank you for your patience as this tool was getting up and running during the fall. If you are still not able to access your account on Unified Classroom, please contact LFNO Data Manager, Keione Bastien at kbastian@lfno.org
