SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Lycée Community,

We understand and empathize with the challenging situation that we face in virtual learning mode. School-wide decisions are based on guidance from the NOLA Public Schools and their partnerships with health officials. (Click here to watch last week’s press conference). As previously mentioned, we are following local protocol and reevaluating weekly the decision to remain in virtual mode. We will notify the community through our standard communication channels; this includes email, text, robocall, as well as information touchpoints on our website and social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You may also reach out to staff members directly via our campus-specific quick reference directories in the header of each newsletter. For academic and class-related questions, the first line of communication will come from your child’s teacher(s). For any health-related issues please include our school nurses (Nurse Pam - pleblanc@lfno.org - Patton, Nurse Keli - kcoleman@lfno.org  - Johnson) in your correspondence with teachers. We hope to see the continued downward trend in COVID-19 cases in order to resume school safely as soon as possible.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
(Jan. 25 - 29 is A-week Schedule)
Survey for Term 3 Educational Plans
DEADLINE - Thurs. Jan. 28
While everyone is in full virtual schooling now, we anticipate being able to return to school in person soon. We need all families to complete this survey to notify us of your selection for term 3 in-person or virtual educational plans. As outlined in the survey, the only structural change from term 2 is increasing the days on campus for 8th-10th graders, however, we know some family circumstances have changed since October, so this is your opportunity to select the educational format that is best for your child for the remainder of the school year.

Please complete a separate survey for each student you have at the Lycée Johnson Campus by Thursday, January 28th at 8 am. Completion of this survey is your selection of educational plans for your child for term 3.
End of Term 2
Middle/High Students will complete their summative assessments over the next few weeks, most of which are projects that have been worked on throughout the term
Term 3 begins after Mardi Gras Break, on February 22nd
Term 2 Virtual Report Card Conferences for Johnson Campus are Wednesday, February 24th
  • You will get a Sign-Up Genius link from your child’s teacher(s) by 2/10
  • Report cards will be sent electronically this term, a day or two before conferences

Lexia!
Now that we have shifted back to virtual learning, here is a reminder about Lexia! Elementary teachers assign Lexia assignments on a weekly basis, it is an independent and research-based program that students should use regularly to boost their reading skills.

Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?

As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.

Lexia is proven to close the literacy gap when used with commitment and fidelity! If you are having trouble setting up or logging into your account, please let Ms. Annie Neahring know.
