Dear Lycée Families,

Fall Break proved restful for our students and staff, who are back to school with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Work never stopped for us, however.  We continued progress towards plans for the opening of the high school as well as fundraising efforts to benefit the Priestley Campus. Optimism is in the air, and I hope you feel it too, thanks to the fresh breeze brought by the fall season.

Hope to see you on Saturday for the PTO general assembly at the Johnson Campus.

Important Carpool Message
As of Monday, October 15, 2018 , the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), over the course of this short school year, have received numerous complaints from the surrounding community of the driving habits and practices of the LFNO Patton Carpool drivers. The NOPD inquired and reported on the LFNO Patton Carpool arrival and dismissal process.

As a result, the NOPD advised the LFNO administrators on further courses of action to be taken and enforced.

  1. Carpool vehicles are to not arrive until the “time” of arrival, 8:10 AM, and dismissal, 4:05 PM.
  2. Carpool vehicles are not to park on the street in a manner that obstructs the ability of any size vehicle passage of the street.
  3. Carpool vehicles while waiting in line for LFNO Patton Carpool will merge, rest, and proceed forward on the left side of the street or roadway at all times.
  4. Carpool drivers are expected to adhere to the LFNO Patton Carpool Traffic Flow plan, procedures, and policies at all times.
  5. Carpool vehicles are to enter Constance Street at or by way of Nashville St only.
  6. Carpool vehicles approaching the LFNO Patton Carpool line by way of Eleanor St will not be allowed to turn right onto Constance St, hence “cutting” the current carpool line of vehicles.
  7. Carpool vehicles and drivers are to comply and follow the instructions of the LFNO Security Traffic Detail at all times. Pay attention and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  8. At any given time, NOPD and OPSD may be present and will write citations to individual carpool drivers for violations. Citations range between $40 and $500.
  9. Enforcement will be carried out by LFNO Security Team Traffic Detail Law Enforcement Officers who are authorized to cite violations effective immediately.

I respectfully ask of each of you, the LFNO family members, to take this matter very seriously. Please be safe, humble, and kind.

School Lunch (Resto!) Billing
ALL PARENTS: As a reminder, in the 2017-2018 school year, the student accounts were split by campus. This required a one-time action on your parent to see your correct account balance. Please follow the attached procedure to delete and re-add your student if you did not do so last year in order to have your student's balance correctly reflected, regardless of your student's grade level. If you have not yet set up your My School Bucks account to view and pay your balance online, please see attached for general instructions on setting up your account as well as the attached FAQs for general lunch billing questions.

3RD GRADE PARENTS: The attached My School Bucks procedure outlines actions that must be taken each year by all parents of new 3rd grade students in order for their lunch balances to be reflected correctly in My School Bucks because of the move from Lycee Lower Campus (Patton) to Lycee Upper Campus (Johnson).
QUESTIONS? Regarding school lunch bills, please contact our bookkeeper, Anne, at achapman@lfno.org and our Healthy School Food Collaborative representative, Van, at van.cao@thsfc.com for assistance. Please note that the e-mail address, restolycee@lfno.org , is no longer used and will be deactivated as of today, October 4, 2018 .
Dad's Club News
Our annual Wing Night competition will be held at the Patton Campus on Wednesday, October 24 at 7pm. All dads are encouraged to participate in our Sauce Contest - bring a tasty wing sauce of your making, and see if you can dethrone last year's champion for the crown. Dads Club will provide the wings and beer, and if someone wants to work on a vegetarian option please let us know. We will also talk logistics for our annual Poboy Fest parking event.
Each year the Dads Club secures a permit to charge a small fee for people attending the Poboy Festival to park on the Priestly Campus grounds. We will send out a sign-up sheet prior to the event and try to get at least 2 dads manning the parking operation throughout the day, so please mark your calendars.
