Dear Lycée Parent / Guardian,

We're at mid-summer and much has been accomplished in preparation for the new school year. Staffing is nearly complete as we prepare to welcome new teachers from France, new English Language Arts teachers, three additional academic / behavioral interventionists, a new Director of Special Education, a new Data Manager, an additional IT support staff member, an additional custodian, an additional playground coach, an additional teacher of the gifted, an additional part-time nurse, and others. We're very pleased with the caliber of our new hires, and expect that the level of instruction and care for our students will even surpass that of prior years. We're not only growing, we're getting better with each passing year. We will welcome our new and returning staff on August 3 when they report for pre-service meetings in preparation for the new year.

Facility preparation continues as we move students out of the St. Paul building and support staff into the spaces being vacated. All students in grades Pre-K through second will be housed in the Patton building. Having all those students in one building enhances student safety, and makes movement more convenient particularly on rainy days. The building receiving the greatest consideration is our new Johnson building on Monroe Street. Driving by the property might make one think that nothing is happening, but all the interior work is being done first with outside work to take place closer to the start of the new year. The interior painting is currently about 70% complete. The security cameras and intercom systems have been upgraded, the doors re-keyed, and restrooms reconditioned. The next phase of the work will include freshening the exterior of the building, replacing windows, raising the perimeter fences, patching potholes on the playground, and restoring the play structure to its original condition. The contract for security officers to be on site from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM is in the final stages of negotiation and will be signed soon. And as we do every year for each of our campuses, comprehensive safety plans and emergency operations plans are being developed.  Finally, to make the Johnson campus more inviting, a landscape plan is being designed. We will purchase plant material and invite the entire Lycée community to come together for a work day to plant foliage and put the final touches on the building. The date of the community work day will be announced next week.

The new year brings other exciting news as we announce the opening of the kitchens on both campuses. All Resto! meals will be prepared on each campus by Pigeon Catering, a local company with a proven track record of quality meal service. Pigeon currently provides food service to the New Orleans Saints, to the Pelicans, and several parochial schools. Lycée will be the company's first public school. Meals served will be more appealing to the local palate, and students will certainly enjoy the new service.

It's going to be an exciting year for all of us in the Lycée family, and it will all be recorded in our new hardcover, 80 page yearbook by Entourage Yearbooks. More information and ordering opportunities will be provided as the year unfolds.  Thank you for choosing to be part of the Lycée family. Your support and involvement help to make it the incredible school that it is.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to seeing all of you very soon.

GroupPriceShirtsGroup Price for School Monogram

For parents interested in getting plain red polos monogrammed for school uniforms, DATS Embroidery in Belle Chasse has the LFNO logo at a price of $3.50 a shirt to monogram. Members of the PTO have contacted the business owner, who has stated that if they can get 48 polos with the same logo, they can do them for $2.00 a shirt

Please contact Sonia Alvarez if you are interested in grouping together to try to reach 48 for the lower price at (504) 982-2519. The contact information for DATS embroidery is 504-259-7737. The price is $3.50 per shirt if you contact independently.

If you are interested in participating in getting monograms for the group price, two Lycee parents, will be at the playground behind NOMA near the Morning Call on Sunday, July 16th, from 4-6pm collecting shirts to take to DATS Embroidery.

Please put your child's name inside the tag, as the shirts will all go in one big box, and please have exact change when you drop off your shirts ($2.00 per shirt). Also be sure put your shirts in a labeled bag.

The PTO estimates it will take roughly two weeks to complete, and at that point a date and time will be determined to deliver the monogrammed shirts. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and join everyone for some fun time!
