Did you know?  The US Department of Energy  is improving transparency of building energy consumption and energy efficient features in commercial and residential buildings.
SWEEP- Southwest Energy Efficient Project
The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is a public interest organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in the Southwest states of AZ, CO, NM, NV, UT and WY.  For more information, visit

As a
rule state, mandatory building energy codes are adopted and enforced on a local level. As of December 2015, 26 communities in Arizona have adopted the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and approximately 65% of all new construction
activity in the state occurs in jurisdictions under the 2012 IECC. Visit the website of the International Code Council,
for up
-to-date jurisdictional adoption information.
On December 1, 2011 released their voluntary Net-Zero Energy Building Code.  The goal of the project was to develop a building standard that provides a prescriptive set of rules for designing a building that generates as much energy as it consumes. There is also a performance path in the code using Energy Modeling. The communities have a goal to adopt this code as the base code in two code cycles.  In the interim the standard is voluntary for builders who would like to build net zero energy buildings.
What can be done to prepare for the ever fast growing trend across the country toward Efficient Healthy 0 Energy Buildings?  Be ahead of the curve, learn and prepare now!

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design  (LEED) is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. The system is credit-based, allowing   projects to earn points for environmentally friendly actions taken during construction and use of a building.

What Is the HERS Index-
  Home Energy Rating System

An SSR Contractor calculates energy data,  giving homeowners a list of items they may want to address, zeroing in on where the home is losing energy  & $$$.

Turn the HVAC off then put Duct Blaster Fan Pressure and Flow Gauge over each register - takes readings and puts in software to find leakage. 25 CFM is average - 34% means leaking out of the duct system. Duct leakage can be repaired.  Was not tight when installed, common - mastic seals the connections. Sucking air - from the attic into the house.  Can inject the area inside the duct work.  Aeroseal is a patented breakthrough technology that tackles duct leaks from the inside out.
