Parents,
Professional learning for our teachers and staff continues to be our primary focus this year as we shift our instructional, engagement, and assessment practices to better serve learning in the virtual environment. For this reason, we have the opportunity for all staff to attend our annual, Google Summit virtually for a full day of professional learning.
In order to accomplish this, we have elected to consolidate two half-days originally dedicated to staff professional learning on September 14 and October 21 and dedicate Friday, September 4 as a full day of training for teachers. What this will mean is that on September 14 and October 21, students will report for a full day of learning and, subsequently, there will be no classes on Friday, September 4. We do encourage students to use Friday, September 4 as a day to catch up on any asynchronous work.
We wanted to make you aware of this change far enough in advance. We are truly excited to have our entire teaching staff access this powerful, day-long instructional technology conference and appreciate your flexibility with adjusting your calendar. If you have any questions, please contact us in the Learning and Teaching department, or your building principals.
Thank you!

Thanks to the valuable work the Character for Parents Team carried out last year we continue updating the Parents as Partners HUB with tools that will facilitate your active engagement in school events. Today we invite all CNG families to click on the following link CNG Parents as Partners: CNG Parent Calendars where you will be able to view the four division Parent Calendars, and filter according to your child/children’s grades.
Once you identify a meeting you are interested in attending and click on it, a window will pop open. In that window you will see the active link for the online event (Zoom link, for example), and the option to copy to my calendar.

HS High School
From the Principal’s Desk
Open House is coming up this week on Friday August 28th! I have to admit that I love the energy of Open House. So many possibilities that lie ahead and everyone is having a fresh start. I am not sure how the energy will feel this year, but I am excited to have parents meet all their kids’ teachers. We are very proud of our CNG High School Faculty and Open House is a time when we can “show off” our very best.

MS Middle School
It was a great week in middle school! We were focused on character and personality traits in our Advisory, teachers have taken the time to get to know their students, we had 89 parents attend our parent coffee, and we ended the week connected as a community in a school-wide assembly. We hope you are noticing how intentional we are about connecting and communicating with our school community.

Dear ES Families,
It was so great to see and hear many of you at last week's Coffee Chat. If you haven't joined us yet - please do! It is a great opportunity to ask questions, share news, and find new resources. We are quickly remembering that our best resource is each other. Hope to see you this Thursday!
Thank You for Your Partnership!

Dear Parents,
We are going on our third week of school and are sailing on smooth waters. Our learning center teachers have taken this time to really get to know their students and make strong trusting connections and bonds with them and with you.
Our key to a successful partnership this year will be our strong connections and communication. We understand that sometimes email can be overwhelming so please let us know if there is anything we can do to better channel the communication in a way that works for you and your family's needs. We will continue to gather recent information on students' current needs so we can update their IEP goals for this year. Please let your direct service provider know if you have any observations or suggestions regarding your child's present learning needs and goals. Distance Learning poses new challenges for all of us and we want to make sure that we are helping all students overcome whatever barrier is interfering in their learning.

Counselors
Dear CNG community,
As we finish the second week of school with students and we remember the excitement, energy, and expectation that flies in the air in every beginning of the school year that we can think of except for this one, we can’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. Although different, with other kinds of challenges, and definitely with a different energy, these two weeks have felt successful. Last week we invited you to reflect on the why, and this week we are looking at a year ahead and thinking of the how. We invite you all to think about the personal resources that you each have as individuals and as families, that will help make this year a successful one, no matter the circumstances. Remember, our counseling team is always here to support you, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
