Jerusalem Fires

Yesterday, we shared an email with the community regarding the Jerusalem fires. If you missed it, please see “Offering Support During the Wildfires in Jerusalem”.

Observances for Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day)

At Kehillah, we recently observed Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) — two deeply meaningful days that reflect the resilience and history of Israel.

Yesterday, our community gathered in white to honor the lives lost in Israel’s wars and through acts of terror. We lit a memorial candle and marked the day with storytelling, prayer, moments of silence, and the singing of Hatikvah (Israel’s national anthem).

Today, we moved from remembrance to celebration as we marked Yom HaAtzmaut, commemorating the founding of the State of Israel in 1948. With sunny weather and a joyful spirit, students celebrated with pizza and cupcakes during lunch. As we hold both grief and joy in the same week, we honor the depth of Israel’s past and the hope for its future.

Hebrew 5 Honors Has a Full-FILLING Friday

Last Friday, Hebrew 5 Honors students with Mora Ronit had a wonderful outing to The Malawah Bar in Palo Alto, where they enjoyed a range of delicious dishes like Ma'lawah and Jachnun.

Special thanks to the parents who volunteered to drive and chaperone, including Andi Frenkel, Hadas Keppel, Erin Ben-David, and Maya Yaniv. A heartfelt Todah Rabbah (“thank you” in Hebrew) goes to Shannon Stein for generously treating everyone to a scrumptious lunch! They also celebrated birthdays for 9th-graders Inbar Spiro and Maya Avraham, and wished our graduating 12th-graders — Micah Nassi, Shaya Ben-David, and Jonah Frenkel — all the best for their future endeavors.

Starting Monday With Heart, Mind, and Body

On Monday morning, our Rams participated in a dynamic wellness event, facilitated by our Peer Health Educators and School Counselor Sarah Lesser. The event featured stations focused on self-care, health, and community care.

Wellness stations included a compliment circle, dance station, breathing exercises, stretching yoga, origami self-love notes, grounding skills, and spreading good news. Students rotated through each activity, earning stamps in their wellness passports. This first-time event offered a meaningful opportunity for students to start the week off exploring wellness practices and coping strategies in a supportive environment.

Thank you to our Peer Health Educators — 10th-graders Jenna Mu, Ruby Berg, Zoey Perryman, Eliot O'Connell, Finn Yalif, and Bekah Garlikov — for taking the lead on our many wellness stations!
