ChiStreetWork - Saves Time & Tempers
Spring and summer entice us outdoors. It's also a peak time for road and construction projects that slow traffic unless you plan a workaround for affected streets and areas. A link provided by the Chicago Department of Transportation can smooth trip time and tempers. ChiStreetWork is the City's infrastructure map portal, created to facilitate coordination between City agencies and utilities, and provide travelers with valuable information about construction activities and street impacts from construction projects, special events, and roadway moratoriums.

European American Association Celebrates 30th Anniversary
John Herman, President of the European-American Association, established the EAA in 1991. Starting with one volunteer and little beyond a typewriter, he's grown the non-for-profit to support a dedicated staff, 500 volunteers, and add modern office technology to the three-story building at 2827 W. Division Street.
EAA staff is diverse and multi-lingual, speaking English and ten other languages. The Association is partnered with multiple community resources: CEDA to assist people with utility bills; with the USDA, FEMA, and the Chicago Food Depository to fight hunger with its Food Pantry. Finally, with HUD and the Chicago Housing Authority to aid the homeless find safe shelter, and put home-ownership within reach of lower-income families. Click for website.
