🎉 Celebrating The Best of Times at the Yearbook Party

We came together yesterday to celebrate the end of the school year at our annual Yearbook Party — and it truly was The Best of Times!

Hosted by the Yearbook Team and Digital Media Teacher Karla Chouhan, the event brought students and faculty together to pick up their yearbooks, enjoy some sunshine, and share laughs over pizza and snacks. It was the perfect way to wrap up a year full of memories and welcome the summer ahead!

✅ We Hit the Match! What’s Next Is Even More Exciting

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to many, many donors, we have successfully met the $75,000 matching requirement for our E.E. Ford Foundation grant!

This milestone is not just a financial achievement — it’s a powerful testament to our shared commitment to a Kehillah experience rooted in building empathy, engaging in dialogue, and fostering civil leadership:

Building Empathy: Learning to genuinely understand and share the feelings and perspectives of others, cultivating compassion and emotional intelligence. This reflects the Jewish value of chesed (loving-kindness) and recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every individual.

Engaging in Dialogue: Developing the skills to have open, respectful, and meaningful conversations across differences — listening actively, speaking thoughtfully, and seeking common ground. It echoes the tradition of machloket l’shem shamayim and dialogue grounded in a search for deeper understanding — a hallmark of Jewish learning and community building.

Fostering Civil Leadership: Preparing individuals to lead with integrity, respect, and a deep sense of responsibility to the broader community. This embodies tikkun olam (repairing the world) and arevut (mutual responsibility), fundamental Jewish principles that call us to leadership rooted in justice and service.

In short, this is about preparing our students to lead with both heart and mind, as individuals who can listen, understand, and guide others with empathy, courage, and wisdom.

Importantly, this grant also positions Kehillah as a leader among independent schools, allowing us to share what we learn and develop with other schools committed to advancing civil discourse and empathetic leadership. Our next step will be to engage the right person to shepherd this important work, and we will begin that process over the summer. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the fall.
