NTC UMC 2022 Annual Conference (l-r): Leah Parker and Bishop Mike McKee
Leah Parker of St. Paul UMC (Dallas) Honored With Bishop William B. Oden Ecumenical Award During NTC UMC 2022 Annual Conference
Leah Parker of St. Paul UMC (Dallas) was presented with the Bishop William B. Oden Ecumenical Award for her work with the "Body & Soul" ministry during the recent NTC UMC 2022 Annual Conference. The North Texas Conference Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns honors social justice ministries that work with other denominations to serve "the least of these" in our surrounding communities.

In February 1997, Rev. Dr. Henry L. Masters, Sr. Pastor of St. Paul UMC, crafted a vision to address the needs of the downtown Dallas homeless community. Leah founded the "Body and Soul" ministry at St. Paul UMC in downtown Dallas to address hunger and provide a weekend safe place to support street artists.

The ministry of "Body & Soul" continues today-- some 25 years later. Leah has worked diligently to ensure that homeless persons continue to receive care.

Congratulations, Leah, and thank you for your 25 years of service and leadership with Body & Soul!
