July Woven Basket Partner:
Interfaith Community Services

For years, MVUU Congregation has donated food to ICS in northwest Tucson. Since l985, ICS has helped “people in need throughout Pima County achieve stability, health, and independence through more than 1,000 volunteers, 112 faith community partners, and the Tucson Community.”

The ICS website enumerates their many diversified human services:

  • ICS Food Bank, second largest emergency food provider in southern Arizona, depends on community food drives and church donations.

  • “Youth Enrichment Services” (YES) supports early childhood education, basic school supplies, and after-school sports or clubs.

  • “Getting Ahead Workshops” (icstucson.org) encourages people of many ages to earn their GEDs, begin college, locate a job, or launch a business.

  • Bank of America grants help ICS offer financial aid during family emergencies and at holidays.

During the next two months (July & August), ICS will sponsor a course, Mental Health First Aid Workshop, four times. Click for More Information

A quarter of Pima County’s 20% resident seniors (65 & older), often need ICS to help maintain independent living, including Mobile Meals (returning in October 2021); caregiving; transportation; health advocacy home visits,; “Home Sweet Home” (volunteer phone calls between 8-10 a.m. weekdays); and assistance with basic household business tasks and personal correspondence.

Donate via MVUU as the Woven Basket Partner: You can make your donations online at http://mvuu.org/donate/ or by sending a check to the Church Office. The mailing address is: MVUU, P. O. Box 91080, Tucson AZ 85752. Please indicate that this donation is for the "Woven Basket."
