National Home Price Growth May Be Picking Up
Nationally, home price appreciation slowed over the past year as higher mortgage rates and increased inventory gave buyers more choices. However, recent reports suggest price growth may be starting to gain momentum again in many parts of the country.
Here in the Boise area, our market is a bit different. Home prices have remained fairly flat overall, creating a more balanced environment for both buyers and sellers. While we're not seeing the rapid appreciation experienced during the pandemic, we're also not seeing significant price declines.
One factor that could influence our local market over the next several years is Micron Technology's current and planned expansion. As the company continues building its new memory fabrication facility and hiring thousands of employees, it is expected to bring additional demand for housing, along with supporting jobs from contractors, suppliers, and related businesses. While it's too early to predict exactly how much this will impact home values, many industry experts believe the expansion will provide long-term support for the Treasure Valley housing market.
The bottom line: National trends are encouraging, but real estate is always local. For now, our market remains stable, with Micron's expansion providing a potentially positive outlook for the years ahead.
