Ukrainian Display

The Middlebush Reformed Church has established a close relationship with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headquartered in Franklin Township. The MRC is encouraging our communities to visit the grounds of the Ukrainian church, located on Easton Avenue on the border of Franklin Township and So. Bound Brook, to view their display of photos depicting the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine. These images are a gripping narrative of the war’s suffering and destruction.    Pastor Montanari of MRC suggests attending this moving display with someone, rather than alone. He has offered to meet folks there if his schedule permits to discuss what you are seeing as well as his experiences with the Ukrainian community.   He can be reached at 732-873-2776 or mrcpastor@middlebushreformedchurch.com

Two Fishes ><> <>< Student Brunch Program

The College Avenue Community                Church will begin a free brunch              program for Rutgers students on        Monday, October 3 and will serve brunch Monday through Friday through the academic year 2022-23. We will serve meals from 11 am through 2pm each day. We need volunteers to help with the serving of food during those hours. We also need volunteers to help prepare food one hour before and clean up one hour after the serving hours. Volunteers are welcome to dine and drink as much coffee as they wish, free of charge, of course. You will be provided all sanitary PPE equipment upon arrival.

With one in three RU students being food-needy, we anticipate serving some 200-300 students daily. Any one of them may be Jesus dropping in for the day!

Please contact the Director, Cathy Verduci, verduci42@yahoo.com or Executive Director, Doug Shepler, douglas.shepler@gmail.com if you are available and committed.

 "Jenson-Leiva Summer Music Camp Video"

Dear Church Family,

This summer, Susy and I hosted a two-week long intensive music camp for high school and college-aged singers, designed to teach them how to professionally record and produce music videos. As you well know, musicians around the world had to develop and hone their recording and production skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we at Six Mile Run were no exception. Susy and I wanted to create a space where musicians in training, who wouldn't ordinarily receive this kind of exposure to recording skills, could learn from the ground up how it's done. Our students were rehearsing in the choir lounge, creating costumes, helping with set design, and recording both audio and video in multiple locations within church premises, all so that we could create an online concert for your viewing pleasure. And now, we are excited to unveil it to you all!

You can watch the performance at the link below. Please understand that this performance is not meant to be shared with anyone besides the friends and families of the performers, and our Six Mile Run Reformed Church community. This was for educational purposes only. We are so pleased we were able to put this together, and give the students an experience they'll carry with them for years to come.

If you want to support this camp in the future, and increase our visibility to those outside the church, you can get in touch with either of us, to learn how you can contribute to the music education of our local community and beyond.

We hope you enjoy the video!

Best Wishes,

Julian Jenson
