$220M Funds Second Round of Business Interruption Grants

The second round of DCEO's Business Interruption Grants (BIG) opens Thursday, September 17th, 2020.  The focus of the $220M set aside for BIG grants is on disproportionately impacted areas (DIAs) and heavily impacted industries and regions – businesses operating at a severely diminished capacity since spring, or unable to reopen.

Microloan Source for
Startups, Established Businesses

North Branch Works offers a microloan product for qualified small businesses located in several Chicago communities.  The fund lends from $25,000 to $50,000 to applicants for startups or established businesses with an interest rate ranging from 2% to 8%.

Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Owner Virginia Ojeda opened the doors of the McDonalds at 4338 W. North Avenue forty years ago. Her son Michael Ojeda has managed the restaurant for the last twenty, maintaining the close ties and support of the community his Mom established.

Ms. Ojeda served as President of the NW Connection Chamber from 1987 to 1990. The restaurant's Marketing Manager for the past eight years, Sandy Ruiz, (seen above) is the current NWCC Board President. Sandy coordinates community events with local organizations.
