THE CLOISTER AND THE LODGE
AT SEA ISLAND
The Cloister
The Lodge
Bill Jones, III, a fourth-generation member of the Jones family, that for decades owned and managed the Sea Island Company, initiated a lodging partnership with the Land Trust in 2001. The voluntary donation program he pioneered has enabled resort guests to contribute significantly to the SSLT over the decades. The Cloister and The Lodge at Sea Island are both known for their beautiful coastal settings, exceptional amenities and facilities, fine dining, and genuine Southern hospitality. Together with the Georgian Room restaurant and The Spa at Sea Island, they have received four Forbes Five-Star awards for 12 consecutive years – comprising the only resort in the world to do so. And yet guests feel like family at Sea Island, as they have since The Cloister opened in 1928.

"Bill and his family started this voluntary donation program at Sea Island nearly 20 years ago, and we are proud to carry on this important and meaningful alliance with the Land Trust. Sea Island Company has a long history of land stewardship and we are proud to be one of many corporate advocates in our community."

-- Scott Steilen, President and CEO of Sea Island
VILLAGE INN AND PUB
Nestled under the ancient live oak trees and between parks and the historic oceanfront Pier Village, you will find the unique, 28-room Village Inn and Pub. Owners of the Inn, George and Michelle Stewart, restored a 1930’s beach cottage while designing and building the Inn around the renovated structure. They integrated the architecture of the neighborhood and the façade of the cottage while carefully making sure that the surrounding live oaks were also preserved. In fact, not one limb was removed or destroyed, resulting in the Stewarts receiving the inaugural “Good Developer Award” given by one of the island’s environmental groups, RUPA. Staying at the Inn will make you feel like you're stepping back in time while being offered all current-day amenities.

“My wife, Michelle, and I believe that the Live Oaks are the true property owners of St. Simons. We are proud to support and partner with the Land Trust to make sure the sheer beauty of the island is preserved for the many guests still to come.“

-- George Stewart, Owner of Village Inn and Pub

Let's Keep It Local!
Pennies for Preservation businesses raise funds to preserve and protect St. Simons Island.
Pennies for Preservation funds are raised by participating businesses either 1) collecting a voluntary 1% or specific dollar amount donation from their customers' receipts/invoices, 2) donating 1% of their companies proceeds or, 3) providing in-kind services to the Land Trust.

Currently, 100% of the Pennies for Preservation contributions goes directly to protecting 70 acres at Oatland North on the island’s north end and to helping create a wilderness corridor on St. Simons.
